The ‘Pearly Prince’ for the Elephant Parade 2010

SHO was invited to decorate a fibreglass baby Asian elephant for the conservation charity the World Land Trust whose patron is Sir David Attenborough, as part of London’s biggest ever public art exhibition: The Elephant Parade 2010.

Over 260 fiberglass elephants were decorated by celebrities, designers and artists and then displayed across the capital.  The project has already raised over £1 million for the endangered Asian elephants.

The Pearly Prince took over 480 hours to create using 11,000 Swarovski pearls and 13,000 Swarovski crystals, each one added by hand.   The elephant was displayed in the window of Coutts on the Strand before joining his herd to be auctioned by Sotheby’s where he raised £18,000.
