Swarovski Runway Rocks

Runway Rocks is Swarovski’s trailblazing collection of conceptual, barrier-breaking catwalk jewels, specially commissioned by Swarovski from the world’s leading designers and creators of jewellery, fashion and accessories. Pushing the boundaries of concept, form and meaning and highlighting the art of the couture catwalk jewel, Runway Rocks has travelled to fashion capitals around the world including New York, Paris, Tokyo and L.A.

Sarah’s design is one of a select group of dazzling Runway Rocks works of art chosen for Swarovski’s Past Forward, a milestone voyage of discovery travelling to Beijing, Mumbai, Moscow and most recently Hong Kong.

It’s such an honour to be asked to design for Swarovski’s Runway Rocks alongside such established designers as Christopher Kane,” says Sarah Ho.

”My inspiration comes from my signature Origami collection which stems from my childhood love of origami. The design features square origami parcels from which a single crystal Tahitian pearl appears interlinking with Swarovski crystals, creating a dramatic look with geometric lines inspired by the glamour of art deco and the tradition of the Orient.”

The cape was heavily influenced by the Paco Rabanne era of the swinging 60’s, where alternative materials were used to make futuristic garments, such as metallic dresses with aluminium and leather trimmings. The head piece also encapsulates this futuristic theme more influenced by the decadence of the art deco era.
